What does it take to get a union sticker on you vehicle and become a professional firefighter?
The men and women who serve the citizens of the State of Washington as professional firefighters start a lengthy and rigorous screening and training process as volunteers. The testing process is much higher, rigorous and more demanding than most other careers in civilian life. It takes a special kind of person to meet the physical, learning and writing of nomenclature, as well as high mental and emotional requirements to be able to go on to becoming a paid professional firefighter.
These men and women are an insurance policy for each of us. We pray, as citizens, we will not need them, and we each are grateful when we do, and they are there! If it were not for the 100% medical for self and family, “Iceman’s” daughter would not have survived Stage 4 Ewing Sarcoma.
Fellow firefighters you will never be forgotten as long as I am Governor.
